Côte d’Ivoire Reduces Machinery Dependence With Local Assembly Deal
Date of Deal: May 30, 2025
Location: Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire
Partners:
Cotton and Cashew Council of Côte d’Ivoire
Cashew Machines Vietnam Co. Ltd (CMV)
Côte d’Ivoire has signed a 5-year renewable partnership with CMV, one of Vietnam’s top cashew machinery firms.
Main Objectives:
Assemble cashew nut processing equipment locally
Set up a spare parts center inside Côte d’Ivoire
Before:
All equipment was imported (mostly from Vietnam/India)
Delays, high costs, and long downtimes during breakdowns
Zero local expertise in machine servicing
Now:
Faster equipment delivery and setup
Less foreign exchange spent on imports
Upskilled Ivorian workers
Smoother scaling of local factories
Industry Targets
Côte d’Ivoire processed 36% of its 1.3 million-ton harvest in 2024.
Goal: 50% local processing by 2030
This move directly supports the 2030 vision to process half of all cashews in-country.
Côte d’Ivoire is already the world’s #1 raw cashew producer and now aims to beat India & Vietnam in value-added processing too.
